The marshmallow drips slowly. Attracted to the ground. The man is busy. He has to prepare hotdogs, pancakes, waffles. It's cold, the pleasure fair or the party in Neu-Neu. Never mind. I see candy apples in bright colors, they catch the eye in this optical hubbub.

He watches from the corner of his eye the sugary tangles that never stop falling. The curls have pistachio, chocolate, strawberry, lemon, vanilla colors. You can choose one perfume, two perfumes or three perfumes which will be wrapped around a small stick. Like braids. Pistachio, chocolate, pistachio, chocolate. I invented an aniseed, minty color to complement the palate, a cold, slightly acidic blue. The molasses slips away, heavy, soft. I mentally encourage him. “Go ahead, go ahead, fall” but as if by magic the confectioner appears at the last moment, grabs the mass and then forms a new loop which he will hang on his hook.

A gesture that anchors an ephemeral moment in the perpetual.

I think of this moment in front of “Septentrion”, the first part of a new series at Ateliers Carbet.
